While promoting his new movie “Fury”, Brad Pitt gave a candid interview about his thoughts on guns – more specifically kids and guns and teaching them respect for the gun.

Brad explained that he was given a gun when he was just a kindergartener! “There’s a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors’ weapons. My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was in kindergarten.” And he shared that although he fired his first handgun at 8, his dad made sure he knew how to handle it. “The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon.”
He didn’t talk guns and his own kids, but he did share that Maddox is very knowledgeable about tanks and it came in handy for his film “Fury.” “Maddox knows so much about tanks that when we first started on the movie, I was asking him for information.”
Now I’m going to have Elton John’s song “My Father’s Gun” in my head all afternoon! Did your kids handle guns at a young age? I think it’s no big deal for kids who grew up with guns in the house, but for those who didn’t, it’s hard to wrap your head around.
